Regional Strategies

There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution to meet community needs for broadband access and use. Local opportunities and local priorities must drive broadband deployment and adoption initiatives. Your ConnectingALABAMA initiative recognizes this and is organizing twelve teams of local volunteers in each of twelve regions organized to mirror Alabama Association of Regional Planning Council areas.

ConnectingALABAMA will engage local leaders and stakeholders in each of these 12 regions to create a strategy that best meets local community needs. Specifically, ConnectingALABAMA staff will facilitate teams of local volunteers to identify the two or three most important broadband development priorities in each region. After identifying those priorities, we will facilitate the drafting of broadband investment plans customized to needs of each region.

Watch this space for additional information about how you can get involved in helping with the development of these regional investment plans. However, we would like to encourage you, at this time, to view several short (2 to 3 minute) videos and answer the brief list feedback questions at the end of each video.

The ConnectingALABAMA planning team prepared these video segments and feedback questions to build awareness and encourage input from across the state regarding what expanded access to broadband can accomplish in promoting opportunities for strong, healthy and educated families and communities. Our goal is to get at least 25 people in each of Alabama’s 67 counties to view the videos and answer the survey questions. These results will help us to make sure that the regional investment plans truly meet the needs of Alabama’s communities. Please help us in reaching this goal by encouraging people in your network to view the videos and participate by answering the short list of feedback questions after each video.
